Staffing Problems
There will come a time in every company where employees will decide to leave. For a large company or corporation this will be much less of a problem in comparison to small companies due to them having a dedicated personnel department which will be bursting at the seams with CV’s and job enquiries.
For a small company, staff leaving can become a little more difficult especially if they do not have an up to date list of CV’s which are relevent to the job roles within the company. What makes things even worse is the time frame in which you have to get things sorted.
SCENARIO:
Company with 7 employees (3 Senior, 4 non-senior)
Month 1 – Senior Leader gives notice of 3 months.
Month 2 – Non-Senior gives notice of 4 weeks
Month 3 – Non-Senior gives notice of 6 weeks
That’s 3 people leaving a company in quick succession.
SOLUTION:
- Reach out to as many jobs boards as you can.
- Use email marketing to send out a “we’re hiring” eflyer (you never know who they know).
- Recruitment agencies
- Use social media (Let people know via twitter, facebook or LinkedIn)
The worst thing you can do is employ people too quickly, choose correctly and know what you want. If you employ the wrong people it’s waste of your time, their time and the companies money.
